Workplace has shut down. Your export can still move to Viva Engage.
Meta closed Workplace on June 1, 2026. If your team exported its data before then, the history of your communities is not lost. We can import that export into Viva Engage so people find the posts, files and conversations they remember.
Status, checked November 2026: Workplace went read-only on September 1, 2025 and shut down on June 1, 2026. Meta deleted the data that was left on the platform.

Many organizations pulled exports during the read-only window, sometimes as a compliance backup with no plan to use it. That backup is now the only copy of years of company conversation, and it can be brought back to life in Viva Engage.
We start by looking at what you have. Exports vary a lot: some hold full group content with attachments, others only reports. We tell you what can be rebuilt, map groups to Viva Engage communities, match authors to your Microsoft Entra ID users, and load the content in the order it was posted.

Workplace from Meta migration FAQ
Can we still migrate from Workplace now that it has shut down?
Yes, if you have an export. Meta deleted the data on its servers when Workplace closed, but an export taken before June 1, 2026 can be imported into Viva Engage with the original authors, groups and dates.
What if we never exported our Workplace data?
Content that was not exported before the shutdown cannot be recovered from Meta. Check whether IT, legal or communications teams kept an archive or eDiscovery copy. If nothing exists, we can help you launch Viva Engage well so communities rebuild quickly.
Which Workplace export formats can you work with?
Admin group exports, API based exports and saved files are the most common. Send us a sample and we will tell you what can be rebuilt before any work starts.
We moved to another platform after Workplace. Can we still consolidate on Viva Engage?
Yes. We can migrate from the platform you moved to, and add your Workplace export so everything ends up in one place.
