Move Salesforce Chatter conversations to Viva Engage.
Salesforce now switches Chatter off by default in new orgs, and the direction is clear. If Chatter groups carry company wide conversation, Viva Engage gives them a home in Microsoft 365 and Teams for everyone, not just Salesforce license holders.
Status, checked November 2026: From the Summer '26 release, Chatter is turned off by default in new Salesforce orgs in favor of Slack based Salesforce channels. It has not been retired in existing orgs and no retirement date has been set.

Is Salesforce retiring Chatter?
Not yet. From Summer '26 Chatter is off by default in new orgs, and Salesforce is steering collaboration to Slack. Existing orgs keep Chatter for now.
Do we have to move every Chatter feed?
No. Company wide groups usually move to Viva Engage, while feeds tied to Salesforce records can stay where they are.
