SAP Jam retires on January 1, 2027. Move your groups to Viva Engage now.

SAP is leaving the standalone collaboration market, and every SAP Jam Collaboration edition goes dark at the start of 2027. Moving to Viva Engage keeps your groups, discussions and files alive inside Microsoft 365, where your people already work.

Status, checked November 2026: SAP will sunset every edition of SAP Jam Collaboration, and it will no longer be accessible from January 1, 2027.

The safest path is to migrate while SAP Jam is still running, because a live platform gives the most complete and accurate data. Waiting until the last weeks of 2026 leaves little room for testing.

We map SAP Jam groups to Viva Engage communities, keep authors and dates, and bring across discussions, comments and attached files. If you also use SAP Build Work Zone, we can help decide what belongs where.

What you can bring across

  • Groups and their members
  • Feed posts, discussions and comments
  • Documents and attachments
  • Original authors and dates

How it works

  1. 1

    Plan

Agree which communities, dates and people move, and how groups map to Viva Engage.

  2. 2

    Deploy

The tool is deployed to your own Azure environment in about thirty minutes. Your data never leaves it.

  3. 3

    Communicate

Clear, friendly messages tell people what is changing and when.

  4. 4

    Migrate

Content moves in waves, by region or department, with progress you can follow live.

  5. 5

    Adopt

Training, community management and change support so Viva Engage takes off.

What we migrate

  • Groups to communities, with members and admins
  • Posts, comments and replies
  • Original authors and posting dates
  • Reactions mapped to Viva Engage reactions
  • Bold, italic, links and other formatting
  • Files, images and videos
  • Content from people who have left, under a historical profile

Private chats, polls and some third party integrations may not transfer, depending on the source platform. We tell you up front.

SAP Jam Collaboration migration FAQ

SAP says SAP Jam Collaboration will be sunset and no longer accessible as of January 1, 2027, for all editions.

How long does an SAP Jam migration take?

Most enterprise social migrations take between 4 and 10 weeks, depending on how much content you have and how many waves you run. Starting now leaves time for testing before the deadline.
